If you’re setting up a new iPhone, here’s how to easily move all the stuff from your old iPhone—like photos and videos, contacts, emails, apps, and more—onto your new iPhone using iCloud:
- Begin set-up process and continue until you see the “Apps & Data” screen. Tap “Restore from iCloud Backup”
2. Sign in to iCloud using your Apple ID and password
3. Select the backup you’d like to use on the “Choose Backup” screen. The most recent backup will be at the top. You may need to update your iPhone to latest version of iOS to match the previous backup
4. Monitor device and wait for a progress bar to appear and complete. The time it takes can vary depending on your Internet speeds and how much data is being transferred.
Content like your apps, photos, music, and other information will continue to restore in the background for the next several hours or days, depending on the amount of information there is.
Set Up as New iPhone
If your last iPhone had a lot of stuff on it you don’t want any more—like apps, texts, etc.— you can setup your iPhone as a new iPhone, without losing your contacts, mail, calendars and more using iCloud. To do this, choose “Set Up as New iPhone”, then sign in with your Apple ID. All the information you saved in iCloud on your previous iPhone will now appear on your new iPhone.
