The exploit, “Broadpwn,” is a vulnerability that allows hackers to take over your iPhone or iPad—and even your Mac—through the built-in Wi-Fi chip. In response, Apple released an update for both iOS and Mac that patches this critical security issue.

Here’s how to update:

For iPhone and iPad (iOS 10.3.3)

 Open the Settings app

Tap General > Software Update, then tap Download and Install

For Mac (macOS Sierra 10.12.6)

Open the Mac App Store app from your Applications folder or by typing “app store” in Spotlight

Click the Updates icon along the top of the window
Click the UPDATE button to the right of the macOS Sierra 10.12.6 option. Note: your computer will need to restart—so save anything you have open before updating.
